While I'm not a fan of makeup, I was compelled to purchase some red lipstick after witnessing the sassiness it inspired. When sporting red lips, women tend to be a bit more fiery/ spicy/ masters of sass [to steal a phrase from my sister]
So there I was, in the convenience store, perusing the many shades of red lipstick. And I proceeded, to the check-out line, to pay for the not-too-pink-but-not-too-orange lipstick that would hopefully make me look sophisticated and not like an eight-year-old at a dance recital. And then I went, up to my apartment, to apply said lipstick and add a bit of sass to my evening of movie viewing, popcorn, and slurpees.
I have many words of wisdom to share from my experience:
1. It's important to practice applying lipstick to ensure that you are, in fact, applying it to just your lips and not the surrounding areas
2. Red lipstick tends to get on your food, so open wide.
3. It also tends to get all over your straw, so get two if you plan to share with your male friend... he'll thank you.
4. When the wind blows your hair it will stick to your lipstick. Turn off all fans and close all car windows.
5. Don't make any sudden movements. Red lipstick can, and will, transfer to any surface it makes contact with.
6. Scrub red lipstick off thoroughly when the night is over, it tends to stain pillowcases.
7. Invest in cleaning supplies as you will likely find red lipstick residue on your towels/ desk/ papers/ shirts/ cups/ everywhere.
8. Red lipstick is a fun and sass-filled adventure and while the side-effects are abundant, you will not hate it.
I hope you have found this post both enjoyable and informative. And I also hope that you too choose to sport red lips but do so with a bit more skill than I did.
MUAH!
